Get High School Diploma Online
Whether you want to go to college or go straight into the work force, a high school diploma is the place to start. Most regular high schools allow you to attend only up to a certain age. If you want to get your diploma after that, you'll need to get your GED.
What Is A GED?
GED stands for General Education Diploma. Colleges and universities require students to have a diploma from an accredited high school or a GED. Many employers also require a GED or traditional diploma.
Is A GED As Good As A Traditional High School Diploma?
There are many reasons that someone might not finish high school the traditional way. They might have been home schooled, or they might have chosen to leave high school early. If a student is overseas, they may not have access to an American or Canadian high school.
A GED is intended to be the equivalent of a traditional high school diploma. In fact, the test is randomly administed to graduating high school students and generally 70% of them pass.
Some universities and employers require GED applicants to obtain specific scores on their GED tests.
How Do You Get A GED?
To obtain a GED, you must take five tests. The subjects are Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. In most juridictions, a student must achieve a score of 410 out of a possible 800 on each test, and an average score of 450 or higher. Requirements in some states may be more stringent.
Will I Pass?
Seventy percent of students who have completed the standard high school courses pass the GED. There are many online high school diploma programs available to help students learn this material or to refresh their skills if it's been a while.
